Ancient Greek Pandora's Box
In Greek mythology, Pandora was the first human woman created by Hephaestus on the instructions of Zeus. The Pandora myth is a kind of theodicy, addressing the question of why there is evil in the world. According to this, Pandora opened a jar called the "Pandora's Box" releasing all the evils of humanity. Hesiod's interpretation of Pandora's story went on to influence both Jewish and Christian theology and so perpetuated her bad reputation into the Renaissance. This decorative box starts with pan playing the flute up top as the lid handle. The box itself is intricate with immaculate details of the Greek Mythology. Images of the Serpent Python, Zeus, Medusa, Hades and many more are sculpted and hand polished on the relic sculpture. At the base are the 7 deadly sins inscribed to complete the Pandora's Box.
